Carcass is a creature whose anatomical profile reveals the geographic shape of the contiguous United States. Thousands of “toy” carcasses were cast in plastic and left in small piles to be taken by gallery visitors. The piles were replenished by gravity fed tubes. Nearby, a large latex carcass lay on its side with its profile obscured from view. From the perspective of an overhead video camera, the geographic shape of the prone carcass is revealed on an adjacent video monitor.
